Last week was one of those moments where you have to step back and think… wow.
We were visited by the BBC North West team, alongside reporter Molly Brewer, to film a feature on A Lifetime of Wisdom and our trishaw rides. And honestly, it still feels a little surreal writing that.
”The team wanted to see first-hand what makes our approach different.
On the surface, it’s simple. We take people who may have mobility issues or feel isolated out on a trishaw ride. We film the conversation. We share their stories with the world.
But what really caught their attention was the why behind it.
We’re not just offering rides.
We’re not just making a podcast.
We’re blending community, storytelling and social-first content in a way that’s never really been done in the non-profit space before. It’s about giving older generations a platform, capturing their life lessons, and using modern media to amplify voices that often go unheard.
And the BBC wanted to understand that.
Meeting Previous Guests
One of the most powerful parts of the day was watching the BBC team speak to some of our previous guests.
People who, before their ride, might not have been out much. People who perhaps hadn’t shared their stories in years. People who now have a video that their grandchildren can watch forever.
Hearing them explain what the experience meant to them was special. You don’t always realise the impact while you’re in it. Seeing it reflected back through someone else’s words hits differently.
Joining Us on a Ride With Keith
They also joined us for a ride with Keith, who will be featuring in an upcoming episode.
There’s something about being on the trishaw that changes everything. The wind, the movement, the public stopping to smile or wave. It’s not a studio. It’s real life happening around you.
The cameras were rolling. Keith was in great form. And you could see the BBC crew slowly realising this isn’t just a feel-good ride, it’s a connection in motion.
That episode with Keith is going to be a special one.
The feature will appear on BBC North West in the coming weeks, and we’ll share the exact date as soon as we have it.
We’re still right at the beginning of this journey. But moments like this show that people are paying attention.
And most importantly, the stories of the older generation are being heard.
That’s what A Lifetime of Wisdom is all about.
