At A Lifetime Of Wisdom, our mission is simple but powerful: to prevent isolation by reconnecting generations through real conversations.
Last week, we took a huge step towards that mission.
We hosted our very first “podcast on wheels” ride, bringing together Dan Whiston from Dancing on Ice and Mildred, a former cabaret singer with a lifetime of stories to tell. What followed was more than just a bike ride, it was a moment that perfectly captured why this charity exists.
And by the end of the day, Mildred said something we’ll never forget:
”It was one of the best experiences of my life. I hope my story helps someone who watches it.
That single sentence reminded us exactly why we started A Lifetime Of Wisdom.
The hidden epidemic: loneliness and isolation among older people
Across the UK, loneliness is becoming one of the most serious but overlooked social challenges.
Millions of older people experience isolation every day due to:
- reduced mobility
- loss of loved ones
- health conditions
- lack of social opportunities
- shrinking community networks
For many, the days become quieter, the conversations fewer, and the sense of purpose harder to find.
